Darjeeling Unrest - Ignored Sins - A bitter truth to be faced!!
By : Unknown
Between the mountains and the vast spread plains, lay a nature’s
majestic creation. All known for the essence of purity it endured throughout
ages. The hills were the play grounds and the timber its jewels. The sincerity of
the natives can be matched to none. It was a perfect place to be termed as “Heaven
on earth”.
Till the dark shadows of outsiders started to blur the very purity of the place. Stained with the greed of wealth and heightened hypocrisy. The “land of the thunder bolts” now has turned into a smoky , blood fed warzone. Often I wonder, “What has happened to my birthplace?” no wonder my heart starts to beat a little too fast, with just a glance of what has become of once a place of heavenly peace.
Its hard to believe that its been well over two and half
months that our homeland is experiencing a total black out but our hopes and
ambitions are not yet down. Trials have been made by the so called governing
body to silence the voice of the people but little they know that this phase is
just the start. “A peaceful movement” we all believe in non violence however
that is not all we know. The place has become a playground for these selfish
politicians who are not concerned about the reality on the ground.
It brings great sorrow to see how friends, family and
people are being treated by Indian government. Just to give a small example,
the prime minister gives a speech when people are urinating on the road or a
bush, stating that a new initiative has been taken up by him to help these
people get bathrooms (toilets). On the contrary people are dying, getting shot
on the head, elderly are being victimized, students are being target for no
further studies, but this is something which is way less important than getting
toilets built.
If the head of the country cannot even address the issues of the people’s need, then what is the point of showing all those initiatives in the television which the citizen of the same country doesn’t even have an access to. Yes, you heard me right more than 60 days there is no cable connection, Internet connection, food supplies in Darjeeling. Now it’s a matter of mass harassment and sheer dictatorship. I ask all of you who is reading this – Who is the bad guy here? The one who is stubborn due to her ego issue or the one who is acting as if everything is going good in this country.
Talking about terrorism and pointlessly terming an entire race as terrorist is one of the most cowardly act that I have ever seen. No state or a country is going to grow till the time its leaders are well educated and most importantly good at heart. Unfortunately both the characteristics seem to be missing big time with our leaders. Saying uneducated I further want to make it clear that –
Firstly, an educated person knows how to prioritize things and obviously nothing is more important than human casualty. I think this has to be communicated to the so call leaders.
Secondly, Good at
heart is pretty self explanatory, still just to quote “attacking and mocking
unarmed citizens at mid night” and a cherry on the top, this is not what a gang
or a mob has done instead this has been done through POLICE. Wowww….
I am literally ashamed of the country’s situation right now.
If anyone who is well aware of the facts
they will feel the same way too. Just
wishing everyone a safe Ganesh Chaturthi back in Darjeeling. Stay safe.
